Portugal — how to plan the trip
Portugal fits three different trips into an area smaller than Poland. Lisbon is a city of viewpoints and trams, Porto a smaller alternative with port cellars across the river, and the Algarve in the south offers cliff beaches and water warm into October.
The Alfa Pendular train links Lisbon and Porto in under three hours, so both cities fit into one week. In the Algarve and the Douro valley a car helps — distances between beaches and vineyards are long and public transport is thin.
Prices stay clearly lower than in Spain or France: lunch in a tasca costs a few euros and a good hotel outside peak season can be cheaper than a Polish resort.
